The position will require designing and providing oversight of broad cutting-edge technologies, including, but not limited to Java EE, Spring Frameworks, Hibernate, Web Security, REST Services, JSON, Role Based Access Control (RBAC) security models, Identity and Access Management, and Single Sign On (SSO) to migrate legacy and SOA based enterprise applications to a microservices architecture.  The successful candidate will architect and engineer applications running on UNIX-based platforms focused on ingesting structured and unstructured data, ensuring data quality, and providing data insights and visualizations. The candidate will leverage experience in working with Java and other object oriented languages and use design patterns and microservice design principles; work directly with senior level system and software engineers and architects to implement enterprise design patterns and integrate and deploy microservices into a complex enterprise environment, The position requires working within a development team to plan iterations and implement user stories through Agile development sprints and scale using DevOps best practices.



  • 5+ years’ experience developing web services & related technologies (JSON, XML/XSL/XSLT/XSD, JAXB, JiBX, XQuery, XPath, SOAP, WSDL, HTTP, REST, APIs)
  • Experience developing large-scale, complex applications used in business-critical operations featuring high performance/throughput and scalability; high availability; proper backup, restore, and disaster recovery implementation; and secure communication and data access
  • High proficiency with backend databases such as Oracle and DB2.
  • Experience designing and developing enterprise services using REST based APIs
  • Experience developing in XML-related technologies (e.g., XML, DTD, XML Schema, XSLT,)
  • Experience with configuration, deployment, and testing of enterprise software applications
  • Familiarity with event-based System of Engagement architectures and integration with APIs exposing microservices (e.g., REST, SOAP)
  • Strong experience implementing authentication and authorization, RBAC, API security.
  • Strong understanding of MicroServices and associated patterns such as Backend for Frontend (BFF) and Command Query Response Segregation (CQRS) patterns
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment frameworks, practices, and tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.

Soft Skills:

  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with track record of taking solution ownership
  • Communication skills key! Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate with leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to articulate coding choices and bring about consensus


  • BS degree in Information Technology or other related technical discipline
